Furukawa shape memory NT spring used for new Mercedes-Benz A class
| Furukawa, in collaboration with DaimlerChrysler, has developed a shape memory NT (NiTi alloy) spring for the “new Mercedes-Benz A-class and B-class”.
Furukawa’s shape memory NT spring was introduced in the automatic continuously variable transmission system installed in the above-mentioned Benz. Our shape memory NT spring can be used as a combination of a sensor and an actuator. The shape memory NT spring functions effectively in the valve mechanism by automatically sensing the temperature and generating a force that can actuate the valve. In the case of A class transmission, the flow of lubricating oil is automatically switched by the valve mechanism.
